Partnership for Children’s 20th Anniversary Partner Get Together
Here at Partnership for Children, we work with partner organisations in over 30 countries around the world to deliver the Skills for Life programmes and support children’s mental health. In November, the PfC team were delighted to meet with members of our partner organisations on Zoom to celebrate our 20th anniversary and collectively reaching two million children.
Throughout the past 18 months, the pandemic has continued to have an impact on both the work of organisations like our partners and ours, so in some ways this celebration held even more significance. During this time, we’ve worked hard to maintain relationships with our partner organisations and have adapted to using Zoom ‘Get Togethers’ in place of the in-person visits. Many of our partner organisations have translated and shared our Covid-19 children’s support resources, made use of our new online training format and materials and we’ve run online training for our partners in Cayman, Kenya and Brazil.
To begin the Anniversary Get Together, Caroline Egar shared a brief presentation of Partnership for Children’s history and relationships with our international partners over the past 20 years. Some of our partners have been with us since our foundation in 2001 and others have only just begun their work with us – our newest partner is an organisation called SHOFCO based in Kenya.
The second part of the Get Together gave members from each partner organisation the chance to share a highlight of their work with the Skills for Life programmes and working with Partnership for Children. It was uplifting to hear the many experiences shared, all highlighting the vital work being done to support children’s mental health around the globe. Hannah, our Programme Director, shared a highlight from the UK team – our work to support children’s mental health in Oldham. Caroline Spicer, our current Chair, thanked everyone for their inspiring contributions and warmly welcomed Brian Mishara (who was instrumental in the creation of Zippy’s Friends and produced Passport) and Doro Marden, one of our original Trustees, an Advisor to PfC and long-term supporter.
Thanks to the work of PfC and our partners around the world in the last 20 years, over two million children around the world have benefitted from our Skills for Life programmes. We are excited to think about what we can all achieve in the next 20 years!
