The TES SEND Show North 2026

The TES SEND Show North 2026 brought together leading voices in special educational needs and inclusive practice. For Partnership for Children, it also marked our first time presenting at the TES SEND Show - an opportunity to contribute directly to sector-wide conversations at a moment when reflection and shared learning felt especially important following the recent release of the SEND white paper.
Social and Emotional Learning as a Foundation for Inclusion
Jayne Carter, Early Years Programme Development Lead at Partnership for Children delivered two seminars as part of the conference agenda. The first session “Developing an inclusive and respectful approach to social, emotional learning” co-presented with Vicky Cook, a teacher from one of our Skills for Life schools, St. Peter at Gowts in Lincoln, focused on building emotionally literate school environments where every child feels seen, valued and supported. Delegates explored practical strategies for embedding social emotional learning into daily classroom life and the wider school ethos, emphasising the importance of respectful, inclusive relationships being at the heart of effective SEND practice.
The second session, “Developing the language of emotions in the early years”, focused on the foundations of emotional understanding in young children and the role of adults in shaping this development. This seminar dived deeper into how young children learn to understand and express emotions, an essential foundation for wellbeing, behaviour, and communication. Attendees left with practical tools to help children build emotional vocabulary, recognise feelings, and develop self‑regulation skills.
The conference was also a valuable opportunity to network with other colleagues, explore other opportunities for collaboration and find out about other tools and resources.
