New masterclass on resilience for educators with Professor Ilona Boniwell
We are delighted to announce that Professor Ilona Boniwell, one of the world’s leaders in the field of positive psychology, will be running a masterclass for educators on ‘Igniting Teacher Resilience from Within’. This half day masterclass, organised by Partnership for Children, will give educators practical tools to navigate challenges, sustain purpose and rediscover the joy in working in education.
Professor Ilona Boniwell is one of the European leaders in positive psychology, having founded and headed the first Masters Degree in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) in Europe at the University of East London, founded and was the first Chair of the European Network of Positive Psychology (ENPP) and the first Vice-Chair of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). Her main teaching expertise lies in the areas of positive psychology and positive psychology applications, with research interests around: resilience, subjective time use, time perspective and applications of positive psychology to business, executive coaching and education.
As well as an advisor for Partnership for Children, Ilona is known to many of our Skills for Life teachers as the co-author of the original SPARK Resilience programme, upon which Partnership for Children’s version of SPARK Resilience is based. In this masterclass, Ilona will draw on principles from the SPARK Resilience programme, which equips children with tools to manage emotions, reframe unhelpful thoughts, and strengthen personal resources, and adapt these ideas for educators to not only survive but thrive in their chosen profession.
This masterclass has been developed in response to feedback from our teachers who wanted to apply the principles of positive psychology and resilience to their professional life.
