New activities to boost children’s self-efficacy and resilience
We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work in partnership with Professor Clare Wood and her team from Nottingham Trent University on the development of a series of activities to boost children and young people's self-efficacy and resilience. Self-efficacy refers to an individual's belief in their ability to accomplish tasks and achieve goals in specific areas of their life.
Research shows that children who have a better sense of self-efficacy tend to be more resilient and have better coping strategies for difficult situations as they’re better able to self-regulate their emotions and reactions. They also tend to have better academic and health outcomes. The development of these activities was inspired by our SPARK Resilience programme for 10-12 year olds.

The full range of activities for ages 3-years and upwards was launched at an exclusive webinar on Tuesday 11th March. The webinar brought together Professor Clare Wood and Partnership for Children, who shared information about the research, how the activities can boost children’s self-efficacy and resilience and how the activities link to the SPARK Resilience programme.
In this video, Dr Clare Wood, Professor of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University speaks about her research into self-efficacy for children and its importance for mental health and wellbeing and introduces the self-efficacy activities:
