SPARK for Educators Masterclass: Igniting teacher resilience from within

This event is in the past.

An interactive half day training session helping educators build sustainable resilience, map energy sources, and leave with practical tools to thrive.

The role of an educator is one of the most demanding and rewarding. However, the high emotional and cognitive load can lead to burnout, draining the very passion that brought you to the profession. This masterclass moves beyond simplistic advice to "manage stress" and instead focuses on proactively building the deep, sustainable well-being that fuels teacher resilience.

Delivered by Professor Ilona Boniwell, a leading researcher in positive education and resilience, this interactive masterclass provides space to pause, reflect, and recharge. Drawing on principles from the SPARK Resilience programme, which equips children with tools to manage emotions, reframe unhelpful thoughts, and strengthen personal resources, the session adapts these ideas for educators. You will work with hands-on tools inspired by positive psychology and strengths-based coaching to map your personal energy sources, identify hidden strengths, and co-create practical strategies to navigate challenges, sustain your purpose, and rediscover the joy in your vital work. You will leave with a personalised SPARK toolkit to not only survive but thrive in your professional life.

Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of this masterclass, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key psychological components of personal and professional resilience, including emotion-cognition interaction
  • Apply strengths-based techniques, inspired by positive psychology, to recognise and amplify existing resilience strategies in themselves and their peers
  • Develop a personalised 'Resilience Action Plan' that integrates practical, evidence-based strategies for managing energy and maintaining well-being during the school year
