Partnership for Children Licensed Trainers are delivering Zippy’s Friends and Apple’s Friends training for teachers in the following locations:
We have 5 trainers at Oldham Council. We all have a wide range of experience working with children including teachers, TA's and counsellors. 3 of the trainers are part of the mental well-being team who are working with schools to have a whole school approach to emotional health and mental well-being. The other 2 are part of the SEMH team who work with schools to support the needs of pupils who have social and emotional needs.

Dr Rebecca Ashton
Educational Psychologist & Child Neuropsychologist

Rebecca is an experienced educational psychologist who has particular interests in neuropsychology, attachment and trauma. She has worked in Local Authorities, NHS and private practice. She currently works as an educational psychologist directly commissioned by schools and as a neuropsychologist for children who have had brain injuries. Rebecca has co-delivered Zippy's Friends and Apple's Friends in primary schools and is delighted to be able to train more colleagues in the Skills for Life programmes.

Jane has worked as an adviser of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) for 20 years supporting schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. Before that Jane was a secondary school teacher of Biology and PSHE. She has also acted as the chair of the advisory council to the PSHE Association for 8 years and is now training to teach mindfulness to secondary aged pupils.

Karen has over 25 years experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings, having taught in both Primary and Secondary Schools before becoming an adviser in PSHE Education. Following a secondment to the Department for Education as a Regional PSHE/CPD Adviser, Karen became a freelance consultant and is currently supporting the work of the PSHE Advisory Service in Nottingham.

Susan has been an educational psychologist in Croydon for 12 years in a range of settings and schools. Her special areas of interest are attachment, nurture, parenting and mental health. Susan is increasingly concerned about the decline in children's emotional wellbeing and the frustrations of staff trying to support them in their emotional and social development. She has been encouraged and inspired by the Zippy's Friends and Apple's Friends programmes.

Matt is an Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist and has worked for Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service since 2003. Prior to this, Matt was a primary school teacher. Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service have been training schools in Zippy's Friends since October 2014 and, in the Autumn Term of 2016, they began training schools in Apple's Friends.

Dr Angie Wigford

Dr Siân Winckle
Siân qualified as an Educational Psychologist in 2010, following the successful completion of the DEdPsy course at Cardiff University. She works as an EP in a Local Authority and for International Educational Psychology Service-Cymru. Siân also has experience of working as a teacher in a Welsh medium Primary School and has worked in various mental health settings. Siân is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Andrea is an educational psychologist with 33 years experience. She has completed an immeasurable amount of training with schools and her work has always been highly evaluated. The wellbeing of children has always been her priority as she strongly believes that 'happy children are successful children' and in Andrea's view, Zippy's friends and Apple's Friends should be a part of the curriculum of every school that considers part of its mission is to prepare children for life as happy, independent and successful adults.
