Mauritius

The island of Mauritius in the southern Indian Ocean will see Zippy's Friends introduced into ten primary schools in 2009. The Catholic Education Bureau administers 48 schools, and has an action plan to deliver holistic and child-centred education. The adoption of Zippy's Friends is part of the plan.

The CEB has secured funding from local sponsors to enable the pilot to go ahead, principally from Mauritius Commercial Bank. The schools have been enrolled, and plans for teacher training in January 2009 are under way.
