Why become a Partnership for Children Licensed Trainer?
A needed programme
One in 10 children in the UK suffers from a diagnosable mental health disorder - that is around three children in every class. About half of all lifetime mental disorders begin before age 14. Young children need support to live mentally healthy lives.
Mental Health is coming higher and higher up the agenda for schools. Zippy’s Friends and Apples Friends are easy to teach, effective programmes to help primary schools prepare children for life’s ups and downs and to become more resilient.
An evidence-based programme
Zippy’s Friends has been running for over 15 years reached over 1 million children around the world.
Research has shown the programme improves children’s emotional literacy and coping skills, reduces their hyperactivity levels and leads to improved relationships, less bullying and an improved class climate.
Details of our three most recent Randomised Controlled Trials (RCT's) involving over 3,000 children can be found here.
Apple’s Friends is built on the same principles as Zippy’s Friends and also has RCT evidence to back it up.
A well-supported programme
Licensed Trainers will receive all of the materials and plans necessary to deliver open training days for teachers as well as in-school training. They’ll get sample sets of the resources used to teach the programme as well as new materials as we update them.
Trainers will also be supported with marketing to schools and provided with templates for flyers and emails. Trainers’ details and upcoming training sessions will be advertised on the Partnership For Children website and Twitter.
Regular support from Partnership for Children and the opportunity to network with trainers across the country will help trainers to develop a strong and sustainable programme in their local area.
A financially-effective programme
After the course fee, the only money trainers will pay to Partnership for Children is a nominal fee for participant handbooks. These booklets will provide all of the handouts and additional information each course attendee will need, saving on time and photocopying.
All materials for the schools are ordered directly from Partnership for Children so there is nothing to pay upfront for materials and no admin costs.
You can run as many courses as you like over the two years covered by your licence fee, and charge schools or teachers to attend (including the price of the participant handbook). We will provide guidelines on charges, but it’s up to you to set the price for your market. The more teachers and schools you reach the more cost-effective your licence becomes.
Renewing the licence for a further two years will cost only £250, making future years even more cost-effective.
