Curse of the Nomed
Moving from primary to secondary school can be a difficult time. That’s why we are delighted to be involved in a new book Curse of the Nomed, created by our corporate partner Wesleyan.
Set on the first day of secondary school, Stef, Nora and Jacob are nervous about being on time and making friends but they didn’t expect to have to worry about an Egyptian curse! Curse of the Nomed is a great adventure story and also a brilliant starting point for conversations with children around their anxieties about moving schools.
The book is based on original ideas from year 8 pupils at Four Dwellings Academy in Birmingham, who know exactly how it feels to start secondary school. These ideas have been crafted into a novel by author B B Taylor and Illustrator Holly Bushnell. To find out more about the book, the characters and the creative team visit www.curseofthenomed.co.uk. The website also has free resources for parents and teachers to help children cope with the transition to big school.
Curse of the Nomed is out now and available to buy from bookshops, online and in sets of 35 for a whole year 6 class. We are delighted that profits from the book will come to us at Partnership for Children to support our work, promoting positive mental health for children in the UK and around the world.
